The 2015 prompt is below.
The characters of Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson, and company have appeared in many situations, alternative universes, and adaptations throughout the decades. With this in mind, we at GridLOCK DC wanted to try something new: a con specific fan zine to bring together stories involving our favourite characters in an unfamiliar setting – Washington, D.C. We are calling on you, Sherlockians, to create short drabbles, doodles, and more that capture our beloved detective in the nation’s capital.
If you want to make some art – great! You want to have Sherlock deduce the real reason why the Washington Monument is two colors – fantastic! Interested in having Milverton blackmail a congressman with naughty photos? Not only awesome, but plausible! Jim Moriarty has a SuperPAC that allows him to keep most of Congress in his pocket or Mycroft coming to town as a consultant for the NSC – excellent!
All we ask is to keep prose at a PG-13 rating between 200-500 words to ensure that we can cram in as much as possible without killing too many trees. Any version of Sherlock Holmes is welcome. The deadline to submit will be July 6, 2015. We look forward to seeing what you come up with, and hope to see you in August at GridLOCK DC 2015! Note: Submissions are not restricted to attendees of GridLOCK DC.
Select submissions will be collected and printed into a fan zine made available at GridLOCK DC, August 8-9, 2015.
All submissions should be sent to email@example.com. Please indicate a byline/credit alongside your submission.
